The 20-room Hotel Amour near the red-light district of Pigalle was once a pay-by-the hour establishment. Now the rooms, many of them adorned with romance novels, erotic art and old photo magazines, have been painted in bright colours or blackish. There are no phones, televisions or Internet access in the rooms (said to be too distracting for lovers). But there are an iPod connection in every room and wireless Internet service in the public spaces.
Owned partly by the proprietors of the nightclub Le Baron, the Hotel Amour hides in an untouristed, undistinguished lane near Pigalle, Paris’s red-light district. Like Le Baron, the place has become a darling of the international fashion and rock ’n’ roll set.
