Kiosk of the night owls – Kiosque des Noctambules

The Art Nouveau subway entrances  – Kiosque des Noctambules - on Place Colette was designed by Hector Guimard year 2000 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Paris subway.

He was inspired by the Parisian newspaper stands when he created the kiosk that consists of two domes, one representing night, the other day, made of chunks of 800 colored glass pearls of Murano intertwined with aluminum, giving the effect of jeweled crowns. It sparkles very nice in the sun and makes a great entrance to the subway station.

The kiosk has become world famous and is even on display at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
