Located in the up-and-coming La Goutte d’Or neighborhood, the Kube Hotel celebrates the cube—”the most modern of shapes,” according to the owners—from the Louvre-inspired glass box that functions as the reception area to the 41 rooms, where rectangular beds are lit from below (and appear to levitate).
The clever gimmicks aren’t confined to the box: there’s also an Ice Kube bar made with, yes, ice; electronic fingerprint readers instead of room keys; and a modern version of the lava lamp, with fluid images projected onto plasma screens.
Address: 1–5, passage Ruelle
Rates: from €189 for a double room
